Mashy Coins Explained
Mashy coins are the game's currency. You earn them by playing well (birdies, eagles and close tee shots) and by inviting friends, and you spend them in the Pro Shop on outfits, irons and putters.
You never need coins to play. Every course and mode is open from the start. Coins only buy extras for Pip, the green keeper you play as.
How to earn coins
| What you do | Coins |
|---|---|
| Birdie (stroke play or daily) | +1 |
| Eagle (stroke play or daily) | +3 |
| Closest to the pin: tee shot inside 3 feet | +1 |
| Day's first finished daily card | Pays double |
| Invite a brand-new friend who joins | +5 each |
| New account | Start with 3 |
A birdie is one under par on a hole, and an eagle is two under. On a Mashy par 3 the realistic birdie is a tee shot onto the green and one putt. If the terms are new, see what is a birdie in golf.
Pars and bogeys don't earn coins, and practice mode earns nothing, so the coins come from scoring in stroke play, the daily and closest to the pin.
The daily cap
You can earn at most 20 coins a day from play. Once you hit the cap, the hole card shows that the daily cap has been reached, and further birdies that day don't add coins until tomorrow.
The cap is per day across all modes, so it doesn't matter whether you get there with one great daily or several rounds of stroke play. Invite rewards are separate from play.
Getting the most from a day
- Play the daily first. The first finished daily card pays double, so every birdie on it is worth 2 and every eagle 6.
- Then try closest to the pin. Each tee shot that finishes inside 3 feet is +1, and you only hit one shot per par 3.
- Use stroke play to top up. Pick the course where you make the most birdies.
- Don't chase coins in practice. Use it to learn a hole, then go and score on it.
Guests earn coins too
You don't need an account to start earning. As a guest, the coins you win are held on your device. When you log in with the emailed six-digit code, recent held coins move into your account. After that, your balance is saved and follows you across devices.
Inviting friends
In the Clubhouse you can invite friends by email, a reusable invite link or a code. When a brand-new friend joins through your invite, you both get +5 coins. Inviting someone who already plays doesn't pay a reward, but they still join your friends list and Today's board.
What coins buy
Coins are spent in the Pro Shop. A few examples:
- Outfits: 10 coins each, such as Lumberjack or Wizard
- Irons: from 50 coins (Sweet Spot Irons) to 110 coins (Gold Tour Irons)
- Putters: Red Mallet for 50 coins, Gold Putter for 90
The full list, with what each item does, is in the Mashy Pro Shop guide.
Buying coins (optional)
If you'd rather not wait, coin packs are available: Bucket (30 coins, $2.99), Bag (110 coins, $9.99) and Cart (250 coins, $19.99). There's also the Pro Pass, a one-off $39 purchase that unlocks everything. There are no subscriptions. None of this is needed to play any hole or mode.
Try it in Mashy
The quickest first coin is a birdie on a short par 3. Open Mashy, play today's daily for double coins, and see how close you can get to the 20-coin cap.

Frequently asked questions
How many coins can you earn a day in Mashy?
You can earn up to 20 coins a day from play, across stroke play, the daily and closest to the pin combined. Invite rewards for a brand-new friend joining are on top of that. Once the cap is reached, the hole card tells you, and earning starts again the next day.
Does practice mode earn coins in Mashy?
No. Practice mode lets you play any hole of the selected course as often as you like, but it earns no coins and doesn't count on leaderboards. Coins come from birdies and eagles in stroke play and the daily, and from close tee shots in closest to the pin.
Do you get coins for a par in Mashy?
No, a par earns nothing. In stroke play and the daily, a birdie earns 1 coin and an eagle earns 3. In closest to the pin, a tee shot that finishes inside 3 feet of the hole earns 1 coin.
Do I lose my coins if I play as a guest?
No. Coins you earn as a guest are held on your device, and when you log in with an emailed six-digit code, recent held coins move into your account. From then on your balance is saved with your account and works on any device.
Can I spend coins on anything other than the Pro Shop?
Coins are for the Pro Shop, where they buy outfits for Pip, new irons and new putters. Every course and mode is free to play, so coins never stand between you and a round. They are best thought of as rewards for good golf.
