How to Play Golf With Friends Online
Golf with friends usually means finding a day everyone's free, booking a course and hoping the weather holds. Playing online skips all of that. You can play at different times, in different cities, and still find out who's actually better.
Here's how to do it in Mashy.
Play first, then compare
You don't need to set anything up before you start. Open playmashy.com, play a hole as a guest, and you'll get a score straight away. Then add your email to save it and see where you rank among everyone who played that hole today.
That order matters. You get to try the game before you commit to anything, and by the time you invite friends you already know what you're inviting them to.
Invite your friends
Once your score is saved, you'll see a leaderboard for the hole with your name on it. If none of your friends are on there yet, tap Invite and send them your link. When they play and save their own scores, they show up next to yours.
There's no lobby to wait in and no need to be online at the same time. Send the link, get on with your day, and check back to see who beat you.
What you're comparing
Every hole is scored against par, so a friend's result is easy to read at a glance:
- E means they made par
- −1 means a birdie
- +1 means a bogey
Scores are also shown as raw strokes, so a friend's 2 versus your 3 is unambiguous. Ties are marked too, so two of you sharing the same score show up as tied, not one ahead of the other.
Ways to make it a game
A leaderboard is more fun with a bit of structure. A few ideas:
- One-hole showdown. Everyone plays hole 1 and the lowest score buys the next round of coffee.
- The full nine. Play all nine holes on your own time and add up the totals.
- Group chat challenge. Drop your link in the chat, and the first person to beat your score picks the next hole.
- Rematch rule. If you lose, you get to replay the hole. Only your best counts.
Tips for a fair contest
- Agree on whether replays count. Mashy lets you play a hole again, so decide before you start.
- Play the same hole. Comparing hole 1 to hole 6 tells you nothing.
- Screenshot the leaderboard for bragging rights.
