The Mashy Daily Course

· 5 min read

The Mashy daily course is a 9-hole round that is the same for everyone on the same day: one course, the same pin positions and the same wind. You get one card that counts, so it plays like a little daily tournament.

If you like puzzles that reset every morning and a fair way to compare scores with friends, this is the mode for you.

How the daily works

  • The course rotates by date. Each day the daily picks one of Mashy's five courses, so you won't always know whether you're getting the gentle park or the windy links.
  • Pins and wind are the same for everyone. Two people playing on the same day face exactly the same holes, so a lower score really is better golf.
  • Your first card counts. You can tee it up again, but the first finished round of the day is the one that goes down as your daily score.
  • It pays double coins. Birdies and eagles earn coins in the daily just as in stroke play, and the day's first finished daily card pays twice the usual amount.

Because only the first card counts, the daily rewards steady play over heroics. A safe par beats a gamble that leaves you in a pond.

Why "first card counts" matters

In stroke play you can replay a course as often as you like and keep your best. The daily is different on purpose. Everyone gets one go, which is how real golf tournaments work: you play the round in front of you and sign for what you shoot.

It also keeps the friends' board honest. Nobody can grind the same nine holes twenty times and post a freak score.

A simple daily routine

  1. Check which course it is. Each course asks a different question: water in the park, doglegs on the downs, wind on the links, carries on the clifftops, straight hitting in the pines.
  2. Warm up in practice first. Select the same course and practice mode lets you play any of its holes as often as you like. The pins may sit elsewhere, but the layout is the same, and practice doesn't count for anything.
  3. Read the wind on every shot. The wind is fixed for the day, but it still changes how each hole plays depending on which way it faces.
  4. Play to the middle of greens. Two putts for par are worth more than a short-sided chip.
  5. Take your time on the putts. The daily is often won or lost on the greens.

Comparing scores with friends

Once you're logged in, the Clubhouse has a TODAY'S BOARD that ranks you and your friends by today's daily score. Since everyone had the same pins and wind, it's a straight comparison.

After a round, logged-in players also see the course leaderboard with TODAY and ALL-TIME views. You can share your result to X, LinkedIn, Facebook or WhatsApp, or copy it. The share is a line of emoji, one per hole, coloured like the scorecard, so friends can see where your birdies and bogeys came without seeing the course.

If you've already got a group, see daily games to play with friends for ways to turn it into a running contest, or set up a weekly table with Stableford scoring.

What a good daily score looks like

Result against parWhat it means
Under parAn excellent day: you made more birdies than bogeys
Level parSolid golf on any course
A few overNormal while you're learning the courses
Lots overA tough draw, or the wind won. Tomorrow is a new course

Remember that course par in Mashy ranges from 27 to 32, so compare your score against par, not the raw total, when the daily lands on a different course.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Mashy daily course change every day?

Yes. The course rotates by date, and the pins and wind are set for that day. Everyone who plays on the same date gets the same layout, which is why daily scores can be compared fairly between friends and on the leaderboard.

Can I replay the daily course in Mashy?

You can play it again, but only your first finished card of the day counts as your daily score. Replays are useful for learning the holes, though they won't change your place on today's board or earn the daily's double coins again.

Do I earn coins in the daily?

Yes. Birdies earn 1 coin and eagles 3, and the day's first finished daily card pays double. Coins from play are capped at 20 a day in total, across every mode, so the daily is the quickest way to reach that cap.

Can I play the daily without an account?

Yes. Guests can play every mode, including the daily, and coins they earn are held on the device. Logging in with an emailed six-digit code moves those coins to the account and puts your daily on the boards your friends see.

Is the daily the same as stroke play?

It's scored the same way, by counting strokes over 9 holes. The difference is that the course, pins and wind are fixed for the day and only your first card counts, whereas in stroke play you choose the course and can replay as often as you like.
